A Japanese tea ceremony demonstration by Mr Sojitsu Kobori, the 13th Grand Master of the Enshu Sado School, in collaboration with JCC and NUS Sado Club, was conducted at Kranji Secondary School on 20 August 2015. As part of the 25th Anniversary celebration of Enshu Sado School at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Kranji Secondary School was honored to be the chosen as the first secondary school in Singapore for this  tea demonstration.

The Grand Master flew especially from Japan and about 100 students learnt not only about Japanese tea, but also the manners, respect and etiquettes.

The Principal of Kranji Secondary School Ms Tan Hwee Pin and her staff gave their full support in coordinating the students during the event. The students were impressed and were actively involved in the tea demonstration.

Towards the end a presentation about Japan was made by JCC’s Event Team Manager Madam Keiko Soeda followed by a Q&A session where students raised questions about the tea preparation to the Grandmaster which he answered them all.

Madam Takeuchi, wife of the Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, specially graced the demonstration. JCC aims to reach out more to the students in Singapore by organising these kind of Japanese Cultural Programs.
